I love because LOVE pursued me first. I am a happy mother of a beautiful and long-awaited toddler, and I am a wife to the man of my dreams. I treasure the privilege to tell the stories of the moments that make life so special and sweet because I understand firsthand how important they are to us. With every wedding I am interested in the special, long-planned details of the day, the portraiture, the tender moments, shared laughter, and gathering of friends and family. I want help tell your story with you so you can treasure these moments for your entire lives. I whole-heartedly believe that your wedding is not just about one day but the entire experience from the planning stage to the growing old together. I want to provide you with images that you can look back on and smile, laugh, and be reminded of your beginning and your foundations.
I also enjoy sharing the work of wonderful wedding professionals, the vision of my brides as well as the endearing stories of my couples. So you may see my work published on wedding blogs and in print on occasion. I can't help but share the beauty and the talent as an inspiration to others!
My desire is to run a business with integrity and joy, forming positive relationships with other local wedding professionals and focusing on my individual clients. I book only a select number of weddings each year so I can work closely with my couples.
If you are interested in wedding or portrait photography, I would love to chat with you in person or over the phone and hear your vision or help create one with you. If I am available on your date and you believe that we are the right fit, then I would love to be a part of your big day. I can also recommend professionals in the surrounding areas to help you connect with others who will help your day come together as it should.
I do travel a few times a year for weddings and most of weddings are in the Charlottesville, Culpeper, Fauquier, Washington D.C., and Alexandria areas.
So here's my photo background! I fell in love with photography and art from a very early age. I first remember my father's photography (hand developed) and loved to see images of my mother at the local fruit market in New York, Alaskan wildlife from my dad's travels and early images of a crazy little toddler (yup, that was me) and still later, my baby brother. My love of the camera never ceased and I went on to receive my bachelor's degree from James Madison University with a major in art and later, a masters degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, specializing in photography and the book arts. I later taught photography as well as advanced placement studio art and advanced placement art history at Liberty High School in Bealeton, Virginia from 2002-2013. After the birth of my favorite photographic subject...my adorable little son, I retired from teaching to focus on being mommy and on the business of photography.
I have continued throughout the years to learn more about digital, traditional, historic, and experimental photographic processes by attending workshops and classes through the Center for Alternative Processes in New York City, the Visual Studies Workshops in Rochester, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Art in Richmond. I received several grants to assist in my continued education in the photographic processes.
My fine art work has been exhibited in locations around the country including the Soho Photo Gallery in New York City, the Center for Fine Art Photography in Colorado, and the Vermont PhotoPlace Gallery.
Recent awards include: 2017 Wedding Wire Couples' Choice Award, 2017 Editor's Choice Award with Two Bright Lights, 2016 and 2017 Shoot and Share Finalist
My work is also featured in the current High Country Wedding Guide and Pretty Pear Bride print editions.
