The New England area is a gorgeous place for a wedding or engagement session. A few of my favorite spots are Hartwood Acres, Nantucket, Longwood Gardens, Boston, and The Cairnwood Estate.
From the sites' websites:
"Longwood Gardens, one of America’s quintessential landscapes, is a place of ever-changing seasonal beauty and an awe-inspiring collection of the most beautiful plants from around the globe. Explore nearly 200 acres of lush, formal gardens, open meadows, and winding paths to breathtaking Brandywine Valley vistas."
"Cairnwood Estate is an architectural masterpiece from the Gilded Age with meticulous decorative elements blending influences from classical Greek and Roman architecture with French Renaissance inspirations. The exterior of Cairnwood shows a mixture of rustic elements and high style. The overall effect is that of a majestic French chateau that is a spectacular setting available for weddings and special occasions."
"Located on 629 acres in the Hampton and Indiana Townships, Hartwood Acres Park includes tours of the iconic mansion, three-course high teas, a dog park, and trails for cross-country skiing, walking, hiking, and horseback riding. It is also the perfect place for an engagement session or wedding day!"

THE PERFECT VENUE

"A New England wedding boasts architectural grandeur and old world romance. Whether it's a Philadelphia, Boston, Nantucket or Longwood Gardens, it's going to be incredible."

Should we both get ready on site?

FAQ

Absolutely! The ladies can prepare for the day in a room you designate and the men can do the same in another room. It works out quite well! View Sam and Dave's coastal wedding HERE. It was a Maryland wedding but with a Nantucket feel!

A FEW OF my MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT photographing WEDDINGS ON PRIVATE ESTATES

Where do you recommend taking our family portraits?

My favorite locations for family portraits will depend on lighting. I will do a site visit prior to the wedding day to determine some of the best spots. I especially take note of backgrounds and lighting. When we work on your timeline and you complete your group shots lists, we will have a good idea as to the best time and pace. HERE is a wedding with well timed family portraits.

What time should we schedule our ceremony to begin?

I work very closely with you and your wedding planner to ensure that you start your ceremony with enough time for the images prior as well as time for golden hour portraits and a steady reception start time. Before you set a start time, let's chat about sunset for your time of year and your wedding day priorities. View a perfectly time wedding day on private property HERE.

What if it rains on my wedding day?

No one wants rain on their wedding day! But if it does rain, your day will still be perfect and your images will be stunning! I have photographed on rainy days and as long as you have a plan B in place prior to the day, your day will still be as lovely as ever. Should a bride consider bridal portraits in advance of the day?

A thousand times YES! A bridal portrait session provides the opportunity for a bride to prepare for her Big Day with a private session devoted just to her. Bridal portraits do not always happen at golden hour on the wedding day, so a session months prior to the big day provides those gorgeous images in the prettiest light of the day. And they make the BEST surprise wedding day present for the groom! Peruse some of my favorites HERE. And be sure to search the blog for "bridal portraits" to see many more.

Do you recommend any other vendors for my private estate wedding?

Yes I do! I have a wonderful and exclusive list of preferred wedding professionals. Many of them are familiar with the intricacies of a private estate wedding. I provide all of my booked couples with a comprehensive online bridal guide complete with preferred professionals. I'm glad to help match you with the vendors who could be the perfect fit for your style and budget. Find out more about my process HERE.
